OUR  MISSION:

To provide the best means to  promote mutual friendship and  co-operation between  Barbadian and Chinese people.

 

BCFA

The Barbados China Friendship Association (BCFA) has been formed by Barbadians to promote friendship (closer ties) and co-operation between Barbadian and  Chinese people.  The Association is very active and it gives Barbadians an opportunity to exchange and benefit from good Barbados and China relationships.  

 

CHINESE COOKING CLASSES

Chinese language classes are to held on Saturdays at the Annu Institute’s ‘Health Centre’.  It is located at the Barbados Ministry of Health Complex. New Classes to be announced.

 

CHINESE LANGUAGE CLASSES

Chinese language classes are held on Thursdays from 7:00 p.m. at the Annu Institute’s ‘Health Centre’.  It is located at the Barbados Ministry of Health Complex. New Classes to be announced.

 

HEALTH CLASSES 

Chinese exercise classes (Chinese Physical Culture Exercise, Tai Chi, Qigong, Wing Chun Kung Fu, and Children A.D.H.D. Classes are held on evenings and weekends at the Barbados Ministry of Health Complex. (Done in collaboration with the ANNU Institute) Phone: 435-2668

 

MEETINGS

Currently, the BCFA Association meets on the first Saturday of the month at 10:30 a.m. to 11 Sharp ! The meetings are held at the NCST.  It is located at the Barbados Ministry of Health. 

 

GOALS

To achieve its objectives, the BCFA promotes and participates in; conferences, forums, exchanges visits, missions, and networking in various areas of interest:

 

BECOMING A MEMBER

When joining the BCFA, new members are advised to choose one of the five area of interest in which to learn about and / or contribute their skills.

 

AREAS FOR NEW MEMBERS

New Members are asked to choose an area of interest. Then develop a project. The areas are as follows: 

 

1. Business and Science & Technology

Facilitating trade and Economic development. Science & Technology — Facilitation and cooperation on scientific projects

 

2.        Travel & Tours

Making tours to Peoples Republic of China to create closer links.  ( For example Regional and World Conferences in various areas, Olympics etc.) Additionally, conducting orientation programmes for athletes and business persons traveling to the People’s Republic of China.

 

3.        Culture (Art & Minority cultures) & History

Organizing an annual “Barbados/China Friendship Culture Day”  celebration on May 30th.  It will include audio, video and periodical s and displays) 

 

4.        Education  & Language

Eventually setting up a Centre for Traditional Chinese Medicine in collaboration with ANNU Institute and a University in China. (Universities – Physical education and TCM – For Partnership Distant Learning  (For example, such diplomas or degree programs in TCM, Rehabilitation Therapy, Physical Education).  Language Setting up language centers.

 

5.        Health & Sports

Assisting in the integration of traditional Chinese medicine, Medical Qigong (Biological healing energy) and martial Arts, into the Barbadian health care programmes and wider community.  For example, reducing stress, A.D.H.D. and Obesity. Sports —Attending and facilitating traditional martial arts festival and sports competitions.

Ambassador Wei Bids Farewell to BarbadosText Box: 

On February 1, 2012, H.E. Wei Qiang, Chinese Ambassador to Barbados, and his wife held a farewell reception at the embassy. The Hon. George Hutson, Minister of International Transport and International Business, the Hon. Donville O. Inniss, Minister of Health and the Hon. Patrick M.T. Todd, Minister of State in the Ministry of Housing and Lands, among other senior Government officials, members of the Diplomatic Corps, Ricardo Sealy President of Barbados China Friendship Association and friends from all walks of life attended the reception.
